Thrifty Finds

Sometimes you never know what you will find as you wonder the aisle of the Salvation Army.

Oh my, a pink angel. You may just keep walking past items like this but you have to look at things with a different eye. How can I change or alter this to fit in my life? Well, all she needed was a fresh coat of white paint and she is absolutely heavenly.
Right now she watches over our back patio but I may move her to my living room once Christmas is all packed up.

Retail Therapy~Some Clearance and a Splurge

Some days you just need to treat yourself to something colorful!I was walking around Super W, waiting for my pictures to be printed and I hit the clearance racks and found these lovely tops and pants. I normally don't shop there but I couldn't pass up a good deal, especially when they were almost free! I know that these items are summer wear but down here in TX I can practically wear them all year, but I won't. I like to celebrate the seasons with clothes even though the seasons are hard to notice here.
Now these were a splurge. I love to to peruse the aisles of a shoe store, looking at all the new styles and designs. I love to try on shoes. When I saw these I just had to have them. They look like a high end designer but cost under $75. Some may say that wasn't a splurge but I really didn't need a new pair of sandals especially with the end of summer approaching. But I love them! Now I need to go get a pedicure! Have you found any clearance items for yourself lately??

Thrifty Finds

I purchased these two chairs to go on our front porch. I had seen a magazine cover that had chairs and a small table with a tablecloth to the ground and it was so cute. One chair was $10, the other was $15 and the table was $1.00, which all came from the same thrift store but not all at the same trip. The tablecloth came from the super W store. My son and I painted them one afternoon. That was a learning experience for both of us. Teaching him about having no drip marks and starting in one area before moving to the next. When they were all dried, his looked better than mine. So this is my version of the cover. I still need to get some small accents and plants to place around but the larger items are coming together. Last week I showed the rocker on the other side of the porch. What do you think? Any suggestions?

Thrifty Finds

Found this cute Pyrex bowl at Salvation Army. It was a steal at only $0.79. I have been searching for Pyrex and its getting harder to find in the thrift stores. However, you can find tons of it at antique stores but pay an arm and a leg for it. My collection is growing.

What have you found lately out treasure hunting?

I haven't made my rounds to the thrifty stores in awhile. Here are some things I pick up awhile back. Subtraction and Addition flash cards and a rocks and fossil kit for my classroom. Three Sizzix dies and Three Sizzix cutting pads. All for nine dollars and some change. Can't beat that!

What have you found at the thrift stores lately?

My New Addicition

I love to shop! One reason I work is to fuel my addiction to shop. Well, I stumbled across some frugal money saving blogs and was very interested in what they had to share. One blog, money saving mom, listed ways to save at the grocery store with coupons and freebies that are offered. Another blog, the centsible sawyer, shared savings at CVS and Walgreens. I was hooked! I read their posts and others that shared on their blogs and then decided to try it for my self. The pictures below are for several weeks and the deals that I received are not longer available. Here is how I did. Olay daily 7.49

As you can see some transactions were better than others but I am just learning how to work it to my advantage. I am particular proud of the $4.00 transaction and so was my husband. I try to go every week to get the deals but because life is so busy it was hard to get some of them and the store near me had sold out of items. It just isn't money saving if I have to drive all over town hunting down the deals since gas is so expensive. My laundry room is becoming a mini store with everything stacked on the shelves.

So I hope these transactions have inspired you to try to save a few pennies/dollars at your CVS or Walgreens.

Thrifty Finds

Not much to show today. I haven't been out shopping like I usually do. I have been extremely busy with work and family. I have had these pieces for awhile but just haven't gotten around to showing them off. I love the basket and will most likely spray it white/cream to put in my front room or bedroom and then fill with a plant. Added two more white milk glass vases to my collection. And the jar will end up in my scrapbook room filled with little embellishments. I don't remember what I spent for these treasures but I know it wasn't over $10.00. What treasures have you found lately????

Garden Clogs

I love Ladybugs. If it has a ladybug on it, I will most likely purchase the item. I just love them! Here are some garden clogs that I purchased awhile ago to wear around the garden I will one day have. A close up of the yellow design.
I will look so cute and bright wearing these around.
This pair is my favorite!
Here is a close up. Love the ladybugs flying around the daisy's!

I don't have a garden area in my yard. I do have flower beds along the front of the house and a ring around the large pecan tree in the back yard. I have a side yard between our detached garage and the wooden fence that I have claimed to turn into a nice little garden area. It's on my to do list. But I can't decide if I want a flower cutting garden, herb garden or vegetable garden. I will have to research each one and find out what would work best for that small area.

Hope your week is going great! If not, hang in there, it's almost over!

A lovely cottage shop in Old Town Spring.

Fun Friday

1. The last time I lost my temper I had to walk away and calm down!
2. Children not listening, being selfish and rude is what I'm fed up with!
3. The next book I'd like to read is Miss Julia Takes Over by Ann B Ross.
4. My family reunion in May is what I'm looking forward to.
5. If you can't get rid of the skeleton(s) in your closet, better lock the door!
6. The best thing I got in the mail recently was a scrapbook kit from Little Red Scrapbook.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to hanging around the house with my son, tomorrow my plans include shopping, a Laser Quest birthday party and picnic while watching Peter Pan at the Miller Outdoor theater and Sunday, I want to attend church and baseball practice.

A co-worker and I always pass in the hall at the same time at lunch time. She's leaving with her kids and I am dropping mine off. We always admire each others outfits and ask about what new items we have purchased and have you seen the latest catalog from such and such store. We like the same kinds of things. Well, this sweet lady surprised me by giving me a reward card for one of my favorite shopping destinations, Talbot's. I am so excited! I can't wait to go shopping. So I have a gift card from DH and this reward card I might do some damage!

Not much fun this afternoon. We had a lock down situation at our school. In case you don't know what that is, we had to secure all outside doors and get the kids huddled together with the lights off and be quiet because there is something outside that is not safe. My kids were scared. I calmly explained what we were doing and that we must practice just like a fire drill. We were this way for about 30 minutes. I could hear the police helicopters circling the school and I just started praying silently for our safety. At the end of the 30 minutes we were all safe and sound and the kids acted like nothing had happened. There was a police chase in the neighborhood. That's all I know right now.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Thrifty Finds

I found these great Pyrex pieces at the Salvation Army store over Spring Break. This lovely piece I only paid $4.00 for. I spotted it at an antique store in Spring, Texas selling for $50.00!!!!! And I think mine is in better condition than theirs.

A sweet little bowl.
I picked up these two mugs. I don't think I will start collecting them but you can't beat the price, .50 for each. I think I know someone who would like to receive these!

My total shopping spree was $8.00. What have you found thrifting recently?

Holiday Boards

I attended a home party for Uppercase Living and fell in love with their products. They offer decorative lettering for your home. They have quotes and sayings and a few graphics to adorn your walls or anything else you can imagine with their product. Think a giant rub-on that won't damage your surface. The demonstrator was holding a workshop to make holidy boards. She had the rub ons and the painted boards, all you needed to do was pay your money and show up to assemble. Since I love to decorate for the holidays I jumped at the opportunity to make them. Here are a few that we made. Valentine's Day
July Fourth

Thanksgiving
Christmas It says Peace on Earth
Anytime

Easter

Halloween

They do have a website. Click here. You can also custom order your own saying or greeting. Also, the website can help you find a demonstrator in your area.
