Menu Monday

I can't believe it's already Monday! We had a fabulous weekend in San Antonio visiting Sea World. We can't get enough of that place. One of the shows that we saw was about creepy creatures-snakes, spiders and the like. My son and his cousin were asked if they would like to volunteer and come up on stage to hold an animal before the start of the show. Being boys they agreed right away.

Here is my menu for the week:

Monday-Lemon Butter Shrimp with Fettuccine, salad, bread

Tuesday-Grill Cheese Sandwiches and Tomato Soup

Wednesday-Tortilla encrusted Tilapia, butter noodles, salad, vegetable

Thursday-Supreme Pizza

Friday-eating out

Spring Break

Spring Break is over and I need another Spring Break! I went with my son and several other students and parents to tour Washington, DC. The days were early starts and late nights. The tour was jammed packed with historical information and places to see. We had a melt down and tears from being so exhausted but overall it was a great trip. I can't wait to go back and see more at my own pace.

Some of the highlights were the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Mount Vernon, Monticello, the Capital Building and the Smithsonian.

Philly

We are in Philadelphia. I can't believe this is the farthest East I have been. We arrived Saturday afternoon to rain. Our plane had to hold in the air until the weather cleared up a bit for us to land.



Saturday evening we headed over to a trendy area called Rittenhouse Row Shopping for dinner. We ate an Italian place that was very yummy.



Sunday we toured America's first zoo. The Philadelphia zoo is quite impressive. The exhibit areas are wonderfully designed and they had a polar bear! After the zoo we headed down to the historical area to board the Duck Tour. It's a vehicle that runs on land and water. We were driven by lots of historical places and famous places. We hope to go back and visit many of these places. It was fun to make a splash into the Delaware River. We saw a Gay Pride Festival along the banks and Will Smith's fathers house.



Dinner we were going to try Hard Rock but it was closed for a private party so we ended up at 13 inside the Marriott. It was nice since I think we were the only ones inside.



The forecaster says that rain is for tomorrow, so our plan is to tour the Franklin Institute Museum.

California Dreaming

It's official! The plans have been made, the tickets have been purchased, the reservations made and dinner selection and reservations confirmed. We are going to Disneyland!!!!! I can't wait to see Mickey and his friends. I haven't been to Disneyland since I was a young girl. We are heading to Cali for Spring Break. We plan to spend six days enjoying the Anaheim area. Hopefully I will get to visit with my girlfriends and their families while out there. I love California and its been several years since we have been there. The last time we were there we toured the San Diego area. Loved the zoo, animal park, Sea World, aquariums and Lego land.

Austin Trip

We had so much fun exploring Austin!

We arrived Friday at lunchtime and headed start to 6Th Street to eat at DH favorite place, Old Pecan Street Cafe. Afterwards strolled around 6Th Street during the daylight since we had our son.

Then we headed over to the capital. It was so cool! I haven't been since I was a kid and this was our sons first trip.
We did stop in the Visitors Center to pick up some souvenirs. Then we headed to check into our hotel, the lovely Hampton Inn. DH took a nap and I took son to the pool to read my new book. Then we got ready for dinner at one of my favorite places, Brick Oven Pizza. We strolled around the Arboretum shops window shopping and then went to Central Market for dessert, yummy carrot cake. We were exhausted the first day!

Saturday we got an early start and head to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. I loved this place and it was my first visit there. Not much blooming right now since it was so hot but I'm sure during the Spring the place is beautiful.
After leaving the Wildflower Center, I wanted to stop at a store that I had found on-line, Homespun Cottage. It was very nicely decorated and I wanted everything in the shop. I did pick up some cute ladybug magnets because you can never have too many ladybugs. I visited with the shop owner and found out her daughter lives here in my city. I will definitely be back to shop some more.

We were starving and stopped by my sisters favorite place to eat, Hickory Street Cafe. Enjoyed a nice lunch. Then we headed straight for the Bob Bullock Museum. This place was incredible. It's a must see place when you are in Austin. Be sure and get the combination ticket and do it all. We saw the film in the Spirit theater and we had a giggle. We learned about all things Texas in the exhibits and then we saw the I-MAX film Extreme. Our son loved seeing all the extreme sports!

After exploring the museum we went to the shop Uncommon Objects, which I found out through Garden Antiques. This place was packed with all kinds of goodies. I had so much fun looking at everything but didn't buy a thing. There was stuff hanging from the ceilings, stacked on top of each other. You can literally spend all day in there. Thanks Theresa!

Then we went back to the hotel to recharge. And then went to one of the most fabulous places to be at sunset for dinner, The Oasis. This place is so nice to sit out on the deck eating dinner and watching the sunset over Lake Travis.



Sunday we headed to Georgetown to explore Inner Space Caverns. I didn't get to shop at any antique stores here. Maybe next time!

Magic Kingdom

We were gifted a trip to Disney for the New Year from Santa this year. My parents, my sister's family and us all flew over to Disney to ring in the New Year. It was crowded and cold three days but we managed to get a lot done despite our group of 10! It was great making memories with family members that will be talked about for quite some time. We arrived at the Magical Place on December 30 and departed on January 5, 2008. We decided to spend New Year's Eve in the Magic Kingdom along with everyone else. We stayed to watch the 8:00 fireworks with Tinkerbell descent from the castle and then called it a night. It was shoulder to shoulder and with people all wearing slickers it was hard to keep up with the young ones. Here are a few pictures of the Magic Kingdom.

I love walking down Main Street. It was simply lovely with all the garland and bows.

The three older kids waiting to get an autograph. This was the thing to do on this trip. Waiting in long lines to have a character sign your book and get a picture.The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides. My son will not ride this at nighttime. In fact he did not ride it at all this trip.

I have been working very hard to finish this scrapbook album. This is from our September 2002 week long adventure in the magical place. I have really enjoyed putting it all together. I did it quickly so everything is not perfect. But it's done! Here is the front cover of the album. It's embossed with Remember the Magic. I had bought this at a scrapbook convention in Austin many years ago.Fun pictures flying and spinning.
