Book Giveaway - The Ladies of Garrison Gardens

Here is the book that I recently finished. I would like to pass this book along to one lucky reader to enjoy it as well. The book was purchased at a thrift store so it does have some wear and tear.

From the back cover:
Charles Valley's legendary dowagers, the three Miss Margarets, have lost one of their own; Peggy Garrison, who in life was constantly overshadowed by the reputation of her rich husband's first wife, Myrtis. After Peggy's will is read, the town is shocked. Peggy has left her entire fortune to the town's wild child, Laurel Selene McCready.
Though she was like a daughter to Miss Peggy, the last thing Laurel wants to do is step into Peggy's shoes, especially since the Garrison wealth never bought Peggy any happiness. On top of that, when Laurel reluctantly explores the storied Garrison Cottage, she discovers that mysteries abound when it comes to the great Miss Myrtis. What clues are hidden in an old suitcase, and who is the elderly woman who has been keeping track of the Garrison estate's every development via the Charles Valley Gazette? And how will Laurel avoid the fate of her two predecessors, whose secrets have far greater implications that Laurel could ever have imagines?

Menu Plan

I am back and I am going to try my hardest to post more often than let's say every 2 months. :) My life just got crazy busy and it was hard to find the time when I arrived home. All I wanted to do was fall into bed.

Anyways, here is my menu plan for the week:

Monday-Beef Stir Fry with Asian Noodles
Tuesday-Sliced Beef with Mashed Potatoes
Wednesday-a quick bite before baseball practice
Thursday-Roasted Turkey Tenders with Gravy and Mashed Potatoes
Friday-Oven Baked Chicken Breast, Mac and Cheese and Steamed Veggies

All of my meals are from Schwans. I am enjoying the convenient freezer to oven dinners.

Thanks for stopping by and if you have a menu plan leave me a link so I can come check it out.

Menu Monday

I can't believe it's already Monday! We had a fabulous weekend in San Antonio visiting Sea World. We can't get enough of that place. One of the shows that we saw was about creepy creatures-snakes, spiders and the like. My son and his cousin were asked if they would like to volunteer and come up on stage to hold an animal before the start of the show. Being boys they agreed right away.

Here is my menu for the week:

Monday-Lemon Butter Shrimp with Fettuccine, salad, bread

Tuesday-Grill Cheese Sandwiches and Tomato Soup

Wednesday-Tortilla encrusted Tilapia, butter noodles, salad, vegetable

Thursday-Supreme Pizza

Book Club Friday

Today I am linking up with Heather over at Undercover Blonde for Book Club Fridays. I have enjoyed reading others recommendations and thought I would give it a try.

The book I have been reading and need to return to the school library is 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass. The book caught my attention by the bright cover. Am I the only one that picks books by their covers? I work in an elementary school and this was a newer book that arrived so I checked it out. It's like Groundhog Day for middle readers. The same day keeps occurring but the characters change their actions some days to see what happens.

Here is what Barnes and Noble has to say about this book:

After celebrating their first nine same-day birthdays together, Amanda and Leo, having fallen out on their tenth and not speaking to each other for the last year, prepare to celebrate their eleventh birthday separately but peculiar things begin to happen as the day of their birthday begins to repeat itself over and over again.

I can't wait to see what everyone else has recommended to read. My summer reading list is growing very fast!

Happy reading!

Outfit of the Day

Today was a special day for me! Tonight I had my districts service awards dinner and I was going to be presented a gift and could bring a guest to share in this event. Naturally I took my sweet husband. We had a nice banquet dinner and then came the presentation of gift. I have worked for 20 years in my school district. I can't believe that when I say it. Time surely does fly when you are having fun. Dress-Marshall's
Black shrug-Dots
Necklace and Earrings-Avon
Watch-Kohl's
Wedges-Payless

Below are the gifts I received. I had a choice of items to pick from; a paperweight, clock, watch, id bracelet and pearl necklace. I picked the pearl necklace I thought I would get more wear out of it. I had to walk across the stage and shake all the board members hands and the superintendent and was presented a silver picture frame at the end. I felt like I was graduating!

It was a nice evening out with my sweetie and look forward to the next 20 years!
