New Valentine Items

I purchased some new Valentine items. A shiny heart wreath from the dollar store, a tablecloth from Kohl's, lovebird salt and pepper shakers from Target and 6 melamine red heart plates.

I finally pulled out my Valentine decorations and in the process of decorating our home for Valentine's Day. I leave my Valentine decorations out all of February.

Tablescape #10 Halloween

It's almost Thursday and it's time for Tablescape Thursdays hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. I am having so much fun decorating my table. Be sure and visit Susan and see all the lovely tables for this week.

Beware! skull candle holders with flameless candles from Kohl's.

My Walmart plates. Used the same pattern for both plates.

Place mats were a Bunco gift and used my everyday flatware from Oneida.

Scary haunted house napkin rings from Kohl's.

Spooky tree with bats at the tips from Kohl's.
Three spider votive holders from a cute little boutique in town sitting on a white milk glass cake stand.
My cute Halloween glasses from Kroger's.

The table was covered in spider webs. Thanks Susan for the idea.

Thanks for stopping by and have a safe Halloween!

Thrifty Finds

Found this plant stand at Salvation Army for $20.00 The bricks are on it to keep it from tipping over in the wind and rain we have been having. I can't wait to get some cute flower pots and outdoor decorations to fill the shelves. It's not very big so looking for little items.

Found this cute gingerbread men container at MAM. I have really enjoyed popping into this Thrift store. I always come home with something. This will go on my table at Christmas filled with flowers or plant.

Another view of the gingerbread men.

These two benches came from my parents. My mom was tried of them and was going to throw them away. I happily agreed to take them. Not sure why the photo doesn't show the whole view of them. They are sitting on our back patio right outside our back door. I stuck my ivy's on them to get a drink from all the rain we have been getting.

What treasures have you found lately?

New Year's Celebration

We spent New Years in San Antonio, TX at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. It was a fabulous getaway. We enjoyed our stay with two other couples. If you haven't stayed at a Hyatt Resort then you need to treat yourself and family as soon as you can. During the holidays they offer packages and deals. Here are some pictures from our time relaxing at the Hyatt! This is the main entrance. The resort is located out near Sea World in San Antonio.
This is one area of the lobby. I came here to read in the afternoons while my guys took a nap.

This is the back of the resort looking at the lawn area. I am standing by the lazy river.

The kids decided to take a spin in the lazy river on New Years Day. The water was too cold for us older and wiser.

Another view of the lazy river. I definitely want to come back during the hot summer months. I can see myself lounging by this river and sipping a cool drink while reading my book.

My son and I by one of the big fireplaces in the lobby. We were trying to warm up from being outside playing the carnival games.

This was one of many signs they had posted around the resort listing events you could partake in.

My son after the ball dropped in New York, which we watched on a giant screen outside, covered in streamers.

A night snack of roasting marshmallows to make smores by the fire pit.

The carnival area on New Years Eve. The lawn area was lined with carnival games for the children to play and win prizes. All included with your New Years package. It also included a buffet Bar B Que dinner.
We had a fabulous time! Please come join us for next New Years!

Ice Skating Tradition

My sister and brother-in-law take all their nieces and nephews ice skating for Christmas as part of their gift. They have been doing this for quite awhile now. All the kids enjoy themselves and have fun visiting with each other. This year my brother and his family came down from Missouri so it was extra special to be with them and share in this fun memory. Here are some photos from the event. Enjoy! My handsome guy!The oldest and youngestTwo divas! My guy! We do not like lacing up our skates!

Afterwards, dinner with everyone at the Olive Garden!

Projects

Well since my son has decided that he doesn't want to play football because of his fractured finger I have a lot more free time after work. I am enjoying that time by working on projects. I didn't realize how much time we were actually running from work/school to practice 5 days a week. This was his helmet for the season. It's so pretty! Can a football helmet be pretty?
This project I found while surfing blog land during the hurricane. I found it here. You take a wood cutout, scrapbook paper, Modge podge, paintbrush and a few embellishments and you have a cute pumpkin. I found all my supplies at Michael's.
Isn't he cute. I think I will be going back and getting more seasonal items to make like this.
And this was my sons teacher gift. I found the idea here. He had taken it to school and pulled it out of his backpack to show it off to his friends and CRASH it smashed to pieces all over the sidewalk. So I have ordered another vinyl to make a new one. You can order one from this Esty store. The vase and clear wrap is from the Dollar Tree, pencils from Sam's and ribbon is from my stash.

What have you made lately?

Menu Planning Monday

I'm back!! I have been having fun with my nieces and blogging has fallen way down my to do list while they were here. We had so much fun keeping busy at the pool, water park, rock band and movies. We had a nice Fourth of July at my parents where we set off fireworks along with everyone else in their neighborhood. Then we headed to Wimberley, TX to shop til we dropped at the Lion's Market Days. And then spent some time in San Marcos, TX.

Now we are getting ready for summer baseball. This will be the first summer that my son will play during the summer and he is so excited. He is playing with his friends and his team is the Owls. He told me that was the best since he just finished a baseball camp at Rice University and their mascot is the Owls. We traveled to three different sports stores today picking up gear for his first game tomorrow!

Here is our plan for the week:
Monday~Hot Dogs with chili
Tuesday~Tuna Tetrazzini
Wednesday~T-Bones on the grill with bake potatoes
Thursday~Out with in-laws for our anniversary to Vargo's
Friday~Our anniversary~16 years! Hoping to be taken out to The Taste of Texas!

Have a great week and try to stay cool!

Holiday Boards

I attended a home party for Uppercase Living and fell in love with their products. They offer decorative lettering for your home. They have quotes and sayings and a few graphics to adorn your walls or anything else you can imagine with their product. Think a giant rub-on that won't damage your surface. The demonstrator was holding a workshop to make holidy boards. She had the rub ons and the painted boards, all you needed to do was pay your money and show up to assemble. Since I love to decorate for the holidays I jumped at the opportunity to make them. Here are a few that we made. Valentine's Day
July Fourth

Thanksgiving
Christmas It says Peace on Earth
Anytime

Easter

Halloween

They do have a website. Click here. You can also custom order your own saying or greeting. Also, the website can help you find a demonstrator in your area.

Valentine Treats

I finished up my Valentine treats to co-workers and sons teachers. I took the big chunk chocolate bars and covered with pretty patterned paper. This is very simple and very cute. There is still time for you to make some for your valentines. Look at this pile of chocolate. Yum! I used a variety of paper from my stash.
I used my sizzix to cut out the 24 tags and then stamped the greeting and picture and inked along the edges. I used a SU set. Then used ribbon from my stash to tie on the tags.
Next I took the tags and adhered the tags to the candy bar. I have several male co-workers and had to find some papers that weren't too girly. I found this lovely plaid and polka dots. I hope they like it. I asked DH if he would like to take some to his work but he thought it would be funny giving valentines to the ladies in his office. He didn't want to send out the wrong message. I just love him!

I hope you are having a great day and would like to know what you are making for your Valentine treats this year.
