Phillies Game

One of our must see things to do while we were in Philadelphia was to see Citizen Park and the Phillies. We were in luck as they were in town while we were there. They were playing the Blue Jays. I waited till we arrived in Philadelphia to purchase tickets and we were seated at the top of the stadium which worked out great since it started to rain and we had the top overhang protecting us from the rain. Philly fans are great! They are very loyal and love the game. Here are a few pictures from that nights game.

It was raining as we pulled into the parking lot.The outside of the gates to enter the stadium.Excitement was building as we approached the stadium.Getting there early to see batting practice and players which did not happen due to the rain.

Must have a hot dog at the stadium.

Me and my guy waiting for the game to start. It was raining and cold.

My happy little guy after the purchase of his hoodie.

It was Jackie Robinson Day at the stadium. My son did a biography report on him in the spring at school so it was cool that they were celebrating him while we were there.

Summer Ball

Well, our last game was suppose to be Tuesday evening but since Tropical Storm/Hurricane Edouard decided to make landfall around here and brought a lot of rain the game was cancelled. I was disappointed because a local news team was suppose to come interview our girl player and the boys. Now if the game is rescheduled they may not come.
This was our first time playing summer ball and we had a great time. Yes, it took a good chunk out of our summer schedule but since we had no major plans for a summer vacation, it fit perfectly in our schedule this year. It was great exercise for our son and he loved hanging out with his friends. Will we do it again? Probably!
During summer ball the coach let the kids play positions that they did not play during the Spring season. So our son got to try pitching and he struck out three in a row when he was on the mound. He was so excited and thinks he would love to be a pitcher instead of a catcher now.

Menu Planning Monday

Where did the weekend go? We were busy with a 50th anniversary party for my aunt and uncle up in The Woodlands on Saturday and Sunday we had baseball, which we lost.

Today was a fun day. We met my sister and her kids at the movies to see The American Girl Kit movie. I didn't think that the boys would like it but they did. It had a mystery to solve and they were getting into it. It was a cute movie. If you have girls at your house I would recommend. And then we had a baseball game, which we won!

We have three baseball games this week(M, T and Th) so cooking will be limited. Here is our plan:

Monday~Spaghetti
Tuesday~Steaks on the grill and bake potatoes
Wednesday~Toss Tacos
Thursday~Out since we have an early game
Friday~Peach Glazed Chicken and Rice

We are running errands tomorrow while Connie is here cleaning. I hope to find all my supplies at the big W store to complete all my projects I want to finish this week. I can't wait to show you the finish products.

I hope your week is off to a great start!

Menu Planning Monday

I'm back!! I have been having fun with my nieces and blogging has fallen way down my to do list while they were here. We had so much fun keeping busy at the pool, water park, rock band and movies. We had a nice Fourth of July at my parents where we set off fireworks along with everyone else in their neighborhood. Then we headed to Wimberley, TX to shop til we dropped at the Lion's Market Days. And then spent some time in San Marcos, TX.

Now we are getting ready for summer baseball. This will be the first summer that my son will play during the summer and he is so excited. He is playing with his friends and his team is the Owls. He told me that was the best since he just finished a baseball camp at Rice University and their mascot is the Owls. We traveled to three different sports stores today picking up gear for his first game tomorrow!

Here is our plan for the week:
Monday~Hot Dogs with chili
Tuesday~Tuna Tetrazzini
Wednesday~T-Bones on the grill with bake potatoes
Thursday~Out with in-laws for our anniversary to Vargo's
Friday~Our anniversary~16 years! Hoping to be taken out to The Taste of Texas!

Have a great week and try to stay cool!

Heading Out

Today was my Friday for work! I am taking Friday off and we are heading out of town! There is so much to get done before we go. I have to leave detailed instructions for my substitute and label and organize everything so she won't get confused. I don't know of another job that you have to prepare so much for when you are not going to be there. I have a reliable sub coming tomorrow and my kids are going to be in good hands.

After getting everything ready at school, I ran to get son and take to baseball practice. Last Saturday was the start of play off games. His team won the first game. Go ASTROS!!! The next game is scheduled for Saturday and we will not be there. I'm a little bummed. We did give our son the choice to stay and play in the game or go out of town and he picked going out of town, of course! If they win Saturday we play again on Tuesday, if they lose then that's the end. Go ASTROS!!!

So where are we going???? We are heading to Decatur, TX for my family reunion. It's my mom's siblings and their families. My aunt has a farm there with lots of room. She has a large barn well equipped with a small kitchen and concrete slab that we all hang out in to eat, play games, share stories and eat. The kids roam the fields and drainage ravine getting as dirty as possible. The highlights are the go carts and horses. We take over a local hotel with an indoor swimming pool and have a giant slumber party. So the plan is to check son out of school after his field day and pick up nephew and hit the road.

I will have lots to share next week.

Happy Birthday

Today is my sweet mother-in-laws birthday.

Tonight is my sons first baseball game. I am very nervous since its kid pitch. He already has lots of bruises on his legs from being hit by his own team members. The coach has my son playing several positions. He starts off as catcher and takes turn with another boy on the team. When he is not catcher he is either third baseman or outfield. I have signed him up to attend the Rice University baseball camp this summer at Reckling Park on campus. He is so excited to be able to work with top notch baseball coaches and university players. Now he wants all Rice Owls t-shirts and caps. He even told me that he would like to attend that university which made me very proud. It's a very distinguished university and only the top notch are accepted. My DH's parents both attended so maybe he can squeeze in.

Have a wonderful day!

Basketball Season

What a day! Today we had a field trip to the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. It was cold this morning walking out on the trails with the students. No one got lost out in the forest! This is one of my favorite field trips we take during the year. But I'm exhausted!Tonight is play-off game #2 for my sons team. Saturday started the play-off games. We won on Saturday so we play again tonight. We play a good team so I'm alittle worried but I know our guys will do their very best. A neat thing~we play in my old high school gym.My son manages to get a lot of rebounds during the game. It doesn't help when we bribe him with a dollar a rebound! I know we are bad parents! But its enough motivator to get him in there and get the ball. Basketball is not his favorite sport but he plays pretty well. We have had a fantastic coach that takes the time to teach the boys skills and strategies and is not all to concerned if we win but if we do a great job and use teamwork. I think because of that we have gone so far when we play with this coach.Go Bulls!
